RAISING AWARENESS OF LGBT BULLYING

Although bullying prevention and bullying legislation have received more attention in recent years in the United States, there is little research on how anti-bullying laws are really put into practice.

Few studies have also looked at the use of anti-bullying laws to shield LGBT adolescents from harassment.

In order to prevent bullying based on suspected sexual orientation and gender identity, the current study examines the impact that anti-bullying regulations play in protecting against such conduct.

In order to gain insight into how those tasked with protecting LGBT youth engage with their school and district policy in an effort to create a supportive environment for their students, qualitative interviews with high school teachers, administrators, and staff members within an urban school district in the United States were conducted.

And results were a bit disheartening as despite multiple awareness campaigns there hasn’t been any significant drop in the bullying activities against LGBT community.
