Same-sex marriage

Even though it was decriminalized in 2018, same-sex marriage is still not recognized in India. There are many reasons ranging from social norms to religious beliefs.

In this blog post, we will explore some of the reasons why same-sex marriage is still not recognized in India and what can be done to change this.

Since ancient times, India has been a land of diversity, with people of different cultures and religions living together.

However, this age-old tradition is now being challenged by the rise of homophobia in the country.

Although there have been some small victories for the LGBT community in India, such as the 2009 decriminalization of same-sex relationships, the fight for equality is far from over.

In countries where arranged marriages are still common and same-sex relationships are considered taboo, same-sex couples may find it difficult to gain widespread acceptance from their families and society.

There are many reasons why same-sex marriage still faces challenges in India.

For one thing, many Indians still consider homosexuality a Western import that goes against their traditional values.

There is also the lack of legal recognition of same-sex relationships, which means same-sex couples cannot enjoy the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples.

However, it is important to remember that love knows no boundaries. No one should be denied the right to love and be loved simply because of sexual orientation.

Until same-sex marriage in India is recognized by law and society, we must continue to fight for equality for all.

The problems faced by same-sex couples in India are many and varied.

Their relationships have little legal recognition, meaning they cannot enjoy the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples.

This can make it very difficult for them to buy property together, for example, or access medical care.

In India, there is a lot of discrimination against gay people, both by individuals and by the government.

This can make it very difficult for them to live openly as a couple and often lead to violence.

The conclusion is that even though same-sex marriage is legal in India, same-sex couples still face many problems.

Due to lack of acceptance by society, many same-sex couples have to hide and cannot openly express their love for each other.

It can affect one’s mental health and well-being. Additionally, since there is no legal recognition of same-sex marriage, same-sex couples do not enjoy the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples.

This includes things like inheritance, health insurance, and pension benefits. Hopefully, with time, society will become more accepting of homosexuality and these issues will be resolved.
